Airship
The city's first airship took 35 years to build and utilised an immense amount of materials. All of the founding families contributed in some way and the citizens of the city were employed to work upon it's construction. The idea behind it was to provide a form of reconnaissance, a way to explore what remained of the earth, salvage materials and provide a backup evacuation plan in case the city was ever taken or demolished.
The Airship is the equal property of all the founding families and is stationed in a neutral airship yard in the industrial area, patrolled by the militia.
- All of its Mechanisms are clockwork.
- Propulsion is steam.
- The Balloon is fabric filled with methane gases.
- Defensive and offensive systems were designed by the militia.
- Navigation systems were designed by the Blackwood family.
- Medical facilities were designed by the Caine family. A Mini Hydroponics unit was setup aboard by the Sirenia family.
- The Cabins were designed by the mayor.
Each family takes responsibility for their individual area and any amendments to their area has to be authorised. Permission to use the airship can be petitioned at town hall.
Its capacity is 195 standing.
Every year on July 27th, Inauguration Day, the airship makes a round of the city with all of the council members or one of their representatives, aboard. It is a great symbol of hope and blossoming advances back into the world of technology.
in 99AA a miniature airship was built, a cruder version of it's Mother that could only carry 4 passengers at any one time. It's setup was basic; a small boat with a rudder to steer, a much smaller version of it's Mother's balloon and a basic steam propulsion system, which took canisters enough to last but a single day. The smaller airship could be rented out by anyone, for the right price, so long as they possessed an airship license.
More of these smaller airships are currently being built, the idea being that a small fleet should one day populate the airship yard.
